Who we are and what we publish — developer-depth, vendor-neutral guides for engineers who code with AI assistants on real production work.

Code with AI is an independent site about writing software with AI assistants, at real developer depth. It is for engineers who already code and want to use tools like Copilot, Cursor and Claude Code well on production work — not a beginners' "learn to code with AI" site, and not a vendor blog.

The problem we're trying to solve

Most AI-coding content is a slick demo or a strong opinion, and both fall apart the moment you apply them to a large, messy, real codebase. The genuinely useful knowledge — how context and retrieval work, why the model invents an API, how to review AI-written code — is harder to find and changes far less.

So we go a level deeper than the demo. Our guides explain the mechanics, give you prompting and review techniques you can apply today, and are honest about where these tools fail and when to turn them off.

What we publish

• Foundations — how AI coding assistants actually work under the hood, and how to set up a workflow that gets good code out of them.
• Working guides — prompting for code, review, tests and docs, building LLM features into an app, and shipping AI-written code safely.
• Free tools — an API cost calculator, a token estimator, a subscription vs API comparison, and a multi-step tool picker. All run in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to us or stored.

Who writes it

Every article carries a named byline and a date. Our contributors are working software engineers across backend, tooling, applied AI and security, and each guide is written by someone who ships code like it. Wesley Tan edits the site.

How we handle numbers

The only frequently-changing data we publish is model API pricing, and we keep it in a single maintained table with a verification date and links to each provider's own pricing page. You can inspect the whole thing on the model pricing page. If the date there looks stale, treat the figures as indicative and check the provider.

How the site is funded

Code with AI is free to read and supported by display advertising served through Google Ad Manager. Advertisers have no input into what we cover or what we conclude, we do not sell placement in any guide or in the tool picker, and no article is written or amended at an advertiser's request. Our editorial standards set out how we keep that line.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or any other AI provider. We are not a reseller or a consultancy. Nothing here is legal, financial, or professional advice — it is general information, and decisions with real money or real risk attached should involve someone qualified who knows your situation.
